How to find the right school

There are approximately 2000 independent (private) schools listed on our various websites and thus the majority of parents will have a number of options in their preferred location. You need to find the school which is the best “fit” for your child.

We strongly recommend you visit our companion website www.best-schools.co.uk where you can download an eGuide on how to find the right school. At the end of the eGuide there is a 30 point checklist, which you will find useful to take with you on school visits.

If you need a private sixth form college go to www.sixth-form.com

If you need an International Baccalaureate school go to www.baccalaureate.eu.com

If you need a Pre-U school go to www.Pre-U.info

If you need expert consultancy help, then fill in the enquiry form on the
www.best-schools.co.uk website or simply phone us on

The consultancy help is available for any age of child, not just at senior level.
You should be aware that applications to independent schools can be a lengthy process. Some schools will be full 2 years in advance, particularly in Southern England. At senior level you child will probably be required to pass an entrance exam, which typically is sat 8 to 10 months before the school year start in September.
If your preferred choice seems on the expensive side, do not delay talking to us about reducing the cost. The Gateway to Education Financial Programme, which can generate the largest reduction, can take between 2 to 6 months to set up.

So, do not delay!
